Affordable Housing & Healthcare Group appoint HBS Group Southern to design, supply and install a full mechanical and electrical building services package for Chapters, a luxury retirement living development in Salisbury.
In September 2019 Affordable Housing & Healthcare Group (AHH) contracted HBS Group Southern to undertake the design, supply, installation and commissioning of mechanical and electrical services for Phase 3 of Chapters a retirement living village in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
During the COVID-19 outbreak AHH Group demonstrated strong and consistent communication throughout lockdown to execute and reinforce enhanced safe working practices on site. This allowed HBS’ Mechanical and Electrical divisions to continue 1st and 2nd fix works in line with revised production levels and quality standards.
The retirement community features a selection of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments heated by a communal plant room, 2 and 3-bedroom new build houses and 2-bedroom refurbished period cottages. All units feature modern energy-saving appliances and high-specification fixtures and fittings.
Summary of new build M&E services
Block E
- The mechanical installation services include a communal plant room controlled by a BMS, heating and boosted cold water to each apartment, soil and waste, dry riser installations, heat interface unit and underfloor heating within each apartment with electric towel rails in the bathroom suites, individual dMEV fans, above ground drainage, sanitaryware and rainwater systems.
- The electrical installation services include LV infrastructure, mains and distribution, communal plant room controls, small power and lighting in apartments, internal and external LED lights, fire and access systems, AOV ventilation to communal areas, lighting protection and IRS.
Houses
- The mechanical services installations include domestic hot and cold water and central heating, underfloor heating to ground and first floors, electric towel rails in the bathroom suites, soil and wastewater systems, sanitaryware and rainwater goods.
- The electrical services installations include small power and lighting, mains and distribution, internal and external LED lights, BT+TV and underfloor heating controls.
Refurbished cottages

The mechanical services installations include domestic hot and cold water and central heating, dual fuel towel rails, underfloor heating to the ground floor, soil and wastewater systems, sanitaryware, rainwater goods and sprinkler systems.
- The electrical services installations include small power and lighting, mains and distribution, internal and external LED lights, BT+TV and underfloor heating controls.
- To ensure strict compliance with regulations and quality standards, our on-site teams are adhering to HBSGS in-house quality process during 1st fix, 2nd fix and final installation. This focus on strict quality control has ensured a consistently high standard of mechanical and electrical installations throughout the building programme.
- Following handover, HBS Aftercare will provide a dedicated 24-hour 365-day after-sales service to residents at Chapters for two years.
