HBS Group Southern’s Company Golf Day Proves a Big Hit
Last Friday saw HBS Group Southern host their inaugural Company Golf Day at the Hockley Park Golf Club, Winchester. Ten teams of four took part at the par-71 golf course, which offered over 6,400 yards of winding fairways and Championship standard greens.
With prizes for the Longest Drive, Nearest The Pin, Best Winning Team and Individual all up for grabs it made for a fun and rather competitive afternoon for HBS’s avid golfing employees and sub-contractors.
The changing weather over the day gave everyone some challenging conditions to contend with. From bright blue skies and sunshine to high winds, heavy rain and lightening, the players battled all the elements with real vigour.
HBS Group Southern’s Finance Director, Alex Bull (pictured above) captained the Winning Team with an impressive performance and was ably supported by Richie Fowler (former HBS contracts manager), Steve Witt (HBS sub-contractor) and Stewart Beck (Aftercare Manager).
John Butler the company’s accountant (pictured below with Managing Director, Kevin Bull) put in a sterling performance to be crowned Individual Winner, with an impressive 43 points.
The Longest Drive went to young Tom Langford (HBS sub-contractor) with a huge 290 yard drive into a prevailing wind on the tough 7th hole. Finally, Closest To The Pin in one going to Roger Crompton (HBS sub-contractor) and Closest To The Pin in 2, Kevin Humphrey (HBS sub-contractor).
At the nineteeth hole we rounded off the fantastic day with a smashing BBQ on the outside terrace which kept our Head Office employees, on-site sub-contractor teams and Directors well fed into the evening.
Congratulations to all the winners and everyone who took part, we are already looking forward to next years event. We would like to say a huge thank to Hockley Golf Club, with a special thanks going out to General Manager, Paul Brown and all the kitchen and bar staff who made it a memorable day through their faultless hospitality.
