Countdown is on for this years Barratt Homes Charity Relay Marathon
We are excited to announce that HBS Group Southern will be entering a team in this year’s Barratt Homes Charity Relay Marathon in aid of Abby’s Heroes. The event returns for the sixth year to the stunning Broadlands Estate on Sunday 13th May.
In 2017, HBS Group Southern raised £2,135 towards the £100,000 total that went to support 50 charities and good causes and we hope to help surpass this figure. With just over three weeks to go the countdown is now underway and employees from HBS’ head office have been stepping up their fitness levels, as they eagerly await race day.
The Relay Marathon gives an opportunity for anyone to take part in a team of up to 10 runners who will collectively run 26 miles and 385 yards. Each runner will run two circuits of 1.3 miles to complete their leg of the course before handing the baton to their teammate. Every penny raised goes to charities and good causes of their choice, with the entry fee supporting the event’s founders and organisers the Rotary Club of Romsey.
This year, HBS has chosen to raise money for Abby’s Heroes. The charity work specifically with the Piam Brown Ward in Southampton, which looks after children across the South Coast, having been diagnosed with cancer. They aim to provide a family with support, be that financial or practical, personalised to each families requirements. Help with bills, buying equipment, or treating the family to a break, a chance to have some precious family time, are all covered by Abby’s Heroes.
Paul Bailey, Operations Director, commented:
“We are excited to be entering again this year in what will be the sixth Charity Relay Marathon at Broadlands Park. The event is a great day out for all of the family and we look forward to raising money and awareness for Abby’s Heroes, a fantastic local charity.”
