Future Homes Standard and Part L 2021
Last month the Government published its response to The Future Homes Standard which sets out significant changes to Part L of the Building Regulations. The update will require all new homes to meet the highest standards of energy efficiency and be zero carbon ready by 2025.
Starting with the interim Part L 2021 Building Regulations, new homes will be expected to meet an additional 31% carbon emissions reduction target, effective from June 2022 up to 2025. Under these new regulations, there will be approximately 1 million new homes built, giving developers strong commercial and technical reasoning to explore the most cost-effective measures available to meet these standards.
