HBS Group Southern complete a fully-integrated plumbing, heating and solar PV installation for Bellway Homes AQUA development in Portsmouth. Now complete, the 90-unit residential scheme will provide energy efficient affordable housing in the heart of the city.
Forming part of a wider regeneration strategy for Portsea, Bellway Homes AQUA is a joint venture with Affinity Sutton. This attractive development of 90 residential units located on Cross Street, offers a collection of 1, 2 and 3- bedroom apartments, and 3-bedroom townhouses for private sale and shared ownership.
The scheme features a building management system (BMS) alongside a communal plant room that incorporates primary controls for all apartments within an efficient energy centre. Furthermore, this communal heating system uses less energy compared to individual gas fired boilers, reducing the development’s carbon footprint. Primary thermal energy supplies circulate to all of these apartments for heating and the production of hot water.
Built to the highest level of specification, these new homes boast modern fitted kitchens and quality Roca bathroom suites. They also benefit from a range of energy-efficient measures and a clean source of electricity through the installation of solar PV.
Project delivery
- HBS Group Southern delivered a fully-integrated installation package for all plumbing, heating, mechanical and renewable energy system requirements.
- For the 3x apartment blocks the mechanical installation services included a central communal heating system, domestic hot water, boosted cold water, soil and waste, sanitary ware, rainwater systems and dry riser installations throughout.
- The Evinox Heat interface units installed in each apartment connect to the central communal heating system in the plant room, and provides independent, hot water and heating for all apartments.

HBS Electrical designed all controls for the developments plant room to ensure an efficient integrated communal heating and domestic water system. In addition, they carried out the necessary inspection, testing and commissioning of installed electrical systems.

All installations complied with Gas Safe Regulations, Building Regulations, Part P and IET Wiring Regulations and the standards set by our in-house Quality Management System.

HBS New Energies completed the design and installation of 12.5 kWp of solar PV. With a ballasted roof mount systems on the apartment blocks and in-roof solar PV systems across the 5 x townhouses. Combined, this will help to further lower energy bills and reduce the developments carbon emissions.
- Finally, our dedicated aftercare division HBS Aftercare is now providing a responsive and reliable after sales service to the residents at AQUA for the next two years.
