First Wessex’s Monksbrook Estate wins prestigious planning award
Congratulations to First Wessex for the award winning ‘Monksbrook Estate, Eastleigh’ project. The project won the award for ‘Planning for Affordable or Discounted Housing’ at the prestigious Planning and Placemaking Awards ceremony back in June.
The Monksbrook project was also nominated for a national award in the ‘Best Designed Development of the Year’ category on Inside Housing’s ‘Top 60 Developments’ list which takes places on 14th October.
First Wessex worked in partnership with principal contractor; Barratt Homes to build this community-focused regeneration project. They transformed the area into an attractive and popular place to live. The old-fashioned estate of 164 properties have been replaced with 272 modern and energy efficient homes, of which 237 are for affordable housing. Following the completion of phase one in 2014, phase two is set to be finished in autumn of this year.
HBS Group Southern delivered an integrated renewable and mechanical package for this regeneration project. The mechanical division managed the delivery of all new build plumbing, heating and gas requirements, and installed aluminium rainwater systems. The new energies division managed the supply and fit of all new build solar PV requirements. We helped the regeneration project meet its renewable energy obligations and achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4.
Following completion, we will provide a full 24/7 aftercare service for the next two years. Click here to see the mechanical and renewable works completed by HBS Group Southern at the Monksbrook Estate.
We were delighted to have contributed to this community project and help our clients address the national housing shortage and provide high quality. The Monksbrook Estate project is a fine example of how we can integrate plumbing, heating, gas and renewable systems into large-scale new build developments. Furthermore, the low-income residents will enjoy energy efficient renewable heating and low cost electricity.
A big well done to everyone involved – in planning, design and construction of this sustainable and energy efficient regeneration project.
