HBS Group Southern supply an integrated renewable energy and mechanical package to Barratt Home’s Cheriton Road development in Eastleigh. The inclusion of solar PV systems to 272 new homes ensured the scheme met the energy performance targets set.
In 2012, Barratt Homes and First Wessex worked in partnership to start the regeneration of the Monksbrook Estate in Eastleigh. The award-wining Cheriton Road scheme includes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes for private sale and social rent through housing association, First Wessex and reached its completion in Autumn 2016.
HBS Group Southern capitalised on their expertise in the housebuilding sector by delivering an integrated mechanical and renewable energy package to 272 new homes at Cheriton Road. By ensuring the scheme met its renewable obligations and achieved Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, HBS were able to make a significant contribution to the success of this large-scale regeneration project.
Project delivery
- HBS New Energies managed the design, supply and installation of 272 solar PV systems to ensure all new homes met level 4 of CfSH. The install teams responsible for all roofing, installation, electrical connection and system testing and commissioning.
- Following initial site surveys, our design and technical team value engineered bespoke solar PV systems to meet the required output, providing a cost-effective and highly energy efficient solution to suit the multiple house types being constructed.
- HBS Mechanical supplied a complete plumbing and heating package to all 272 units. The project team managed the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of all gas, heating and water system requirements. For more info click here.
- Throughout the construction, our on-site project teams worked closely with associated trades and site managers to ensure a smooth and efficient installation process through each phase. Upon completion, we provided bespoke O&M handover packs for each house type. This included operational information on the PV system and all warranty documents for the benefit of the end-user.
- The 457 kWp PV scheme is projected to generate 319,900 kWh of zero carbon electricity and save an estimated 159,950 kg in carbon emissions per year. The inclusion of solar PV systems into the construction of these new build homes will see both private homeowners and low income tenants enjoy the added benefit of energy efficient renewable heating and low cost electricity.
